Lisa Bennett: Educator and Advocate for Lifelong Learning
With over 20 years of experience in education, Lisa Bennett is a dedicated educator committed to teaching, curriculum development, and professional growth. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Clemson University and has earned Master's degrees in Curriculum & Instruction from Concordia University and Educational Leadership and Supervision from Grand Canyon University. Furthering her expertise, Lisa completed her Ed.S in Online Teaching and Learning from the College of Charleston and holds an endorsement to teach Gifted & Talented students. Additionally, she is a certified Career Development Facilitator.
Throughout her career, Lisa has taught Secondary English and Adult Education, and she has played a pivotal role as the District Lead Coordinator and director of the FLEX program, an alternative school initiative for students in grades 6-12. Recognizing the need for education beyond traditional academics, she developed the G.R.O.W. Time curriculum, which incorporates essential life skills such as financial literacy, communication, and conflict resolution. In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Lisa integrated social-emotional learning components, including her Lifetraps lessons, to help students gain self-awareness and improve their interpersonal relationships.
Passionate about making a broader impact beyond the classroom, Lisa founded LBC Educational Consulting, which stands for "Lisa Bennett Cares." This consulting firm is dedicated to impacting young people's lives through innovative educational practices and resources.
Lisa's commitment to professional development led her to provide training for the South Carolina State Department of Education. Notably, she also traveled to Lusaka, Zambia, where she taught grades 5-10 and empowered local educators through professional development workshops.
A proactive community leader, Lisa has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including A to Zed, the Friends of the Clemson Area African American Museum, the Shaw Center for Housing and Economic Growth, and the Pendleton Foundation for Black History and Culture. In these roles, she has held positions such as volunteer coordinator, secretary, and marketing chair, actively contributing to meaningful initiatives and educational outreach.
As a lifelong learner, Lisa remains passionate about educating individuals of all ages and backgrounds, continually seeking innovative ways to inspire and uplift those around her.
