Meet Philisa Bennett
Curriculum Specialist, Educational Leader, and Builder of Bridges
Philisa Bennett’s passion for education was sparked early on, through listening to bedtime stories with her mother and playing “school” with her cousins. That childhood love of learning grew into a lifelong mission to ensure that every person—regardless of their background—has the tools they need to thrive.
With over 20 years of experience across K-12, adult education, and nonprofit leadership, Philisa has dedicated her career to building learning experiences that actually stick. She’s developed social-emotional curricula from scratch, trained adult educators across South Carolina, and helped organizations translate their big ideas into market-ready programs.
Her journey has taken her from the classroom, where she became the first teacher in her school’s history to achieve a 100% pass rate on the English 1 End-of-Course test for two consecutive years, to leading an alternative school program, where she raised the graduation rate from 40% to 93%.
But at her core, Philisa is a builder. She thrives on the messy work of organizational change, identifying gaps, streamlining processes, and developing training programs that actually serve the people they’re designed for. Her philosophy is simple: treat every learner as capable first, build genuine relationships, and never accept “that’s just how it’s always been” as an answer.
Her work has been recognized nationally, naming her one of the Influential People Who Define 2026 and the Most Influential Curriculum Innovation & Education Leadership Voice to Watch in 2026. Yet, for Philisa, the greatest reward remains the moment when good teaching clicks—for a student, a teacher, or an entire organization.
